Pietni Park

Oddly enough, the pet cemetery (Pietni Park)  is one of my favorite places to walk. Not just because Michal has often joked that he might send me to the nearby psychiatric hospital, but also because its in a pretty part of Prague. The photo with all the toys is not a child’s grave but rather someone’s beloved pet.

It is so cute to see what names they were given like Klodycek, Lucinka, Bettynka, and Atrej.

I especially love the name Bad. I’m assuming the other dog grave was also Bad given they put up his sign that translates to “Watch out Dog! I am protecting this place!”

And of course the favorite toys. The display case is perfect for the toys. I would never have thought of that.

Zofinka seems to be a popular name. I sometimes called my Sophie – Sofinka.  A black cat with his picture.  Awww… I wasn’t sure if they even had any cats until I saw the photo of Filipek and the scratching post.

This place has been made extra beautiful by having a different tree planted with each pet. The cemetery has been closed for the past 10 years or so.  Mostly due to the confusion over who owns the land.  However, they still keep it very nice.

Or if you need some other type of help check out (or in) to the Psychiatric Hospital in Bohnice.  https://www.bohnice.cz/

My husband questions my sanity too, sometimes, because of how much I enjoy strolling in cemeteries. But why not? They’re such repositories of love and memory — and in more philosophical moments, a reminder to enjoy life while we can. This cemetery *is* especially touching, though … what a sweet idea to leave the favorite toys. Lovely post!
